Westward Bound

Jonathan was born in Durham, North Carolina. However he spent most of his childhood in the Twin Cities, Minnesota where he first picked up a cornet at the age of 10. He was immediately enamored with the instrumet, and sought out all kinds of playing from Jazz and wind band to musicals and youth orchestra. He eventually decided to study trumpet at Ithaca College in New York, where he graduated with awards in 2016.

Jonathan worked on arrangements with a number of diverse groups in Ithaca from The Klezmer Band that he lead to the College’s Video Game Orchestra, of which he was a founding member.

In 2018 he moved to to Los Angeles, California where he currently resides and is a Master’s student in Trumpet performance at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Jonathan’s musical passions center around live performance of Klezmer and brass chamber music, as well as arranging video game music for small and large ensembles.

He is a self-described lover of cats and science fiction, and has a long running hobby building hi-tech PCs.
